What Is Compounding?
Pharmaceutical compounding is the preparation of a customized medication by a licensed pharmacist, working in collaboration with your doctor or healthcare provider. It's used when a commercially available medication isn't the right fit — whether that's the dose, the format, an ingredient allergy, or a discontinued product. At Parkdale Medical Pharmacy, our compounding pharmacists work closely with your prescriber to formulate medications that are made specifically for you — not mass-produced for the average patient.

💊 Hormone Therapy (HRT)
Custom bioidentical hormone formulations in the dose and delivery method that works for your body — creams, troches, capsules, and more. We work with your physician to optimize your hormone therapy plan.

🧒 Pediatric Compounding
Children often need smaller doses or can't swallow pills. We formulate child-friendly liquids, chewables, and flavoured preparations that make medication time easier for kids and parents alike.

🌿 Allergen-Free Formulations
If you have sensitivities to dyes, preservatives, gluten, or lactose, we can compound your medication without them — clean, pure, and safe for you.

🐾 Veterinary Compounding
We compound custom medications for pets when commercially available options aren't suitable. Available in flavoured liquids, treats, or transdermal gels your animal will actually accept.

💉 Alternative Dosage Forms
Can't swallow a tablet? We can reformulate your medication as a cream, gel, lozenge, liquid, or nasal spray — whatever works best for you.

🔬 Discontinued Medications
If a medication you rely on has been discontinued commercially, compounding may be the solution. Talk to our pharmacist about your options.
